Los Angeles artist Mike Kelley was found dead in his south Pasadena home from apparent suicide.
Born in Detroit in 1954, Kelley was involved in the city’s music scene that saw the emergence of such acts as Iggy & the stooges before moving to the west coast to study at the California Institute of the Arts. Here he learnt under the direction of artist John Baldessari. His art helped to defined the Los Angeles art scene in the 1980s.
